About Me

Hello!

I thought you'd like to know a little bit about me and how and why I am an expert in health and wellness.

As a teenager, I knew I wanted to become a nurse, so I started my training at the age of 16 in a vocational school. By the age of 19, I achieved the goal of becoming a nurse and have worked in the medical field on and off for at least 3 decades.

In my late 20s, I started having health problems, and for the next 20 years, I struggled with getting the answers to why I was suffering. In 1999, my son was born, and he also had chronic health problems that we struggled to find the answers to. You can read more about the specifics of our journey in my book I Just Want to Function!

In 2015, I started finding the answers and solutions to our chronic health problems, much of which had to deal with lifestyle factors. (Factors that you often don't get from your medical doctor) Once I started implementing these changes in my life, my health started turning around. I was sold!!! From then on, it was my goal to make learning all that I could about lifestyle factors an ongoing focus so that I could help others reach their potential for better health and wellness.

By early 2022, I became a Certified Health Coach and published a book and workbook. Although I'm still licensed as a Registered Nurse, my passion is now to work as a certified health coach, assisting individuals, such as yourself, in their journey to wellness. This course, along with my book, workbook, and one-on-one health coaching, are the tools I've developed so that you can find the best way of learning and growth that fits your needs.

The Beginning of My Journey

For 3 decades, I suffered from chronic pain, fatigue, exercise intolerance, and was overweight. By the time 2016 came around, I weighed 186+ pounds at 5 ft 2 inches, I was sleeping all the time, continued with chronic widespread pain, and began to have difficulty breathing while inactive.

My official journey started sometime in late 2016. It was slow going because of major life challenges, such as moving in 2018 and my son getting into a major car accident at the end of 2018 (leading to years of supporting him with many doctor's appointments, physical therapy, and mental health concerns), and my daughter getting married in 2019. Oh, and let's not forget the COVID-19 pandemic! Life can be hectic, but we can reach our goals by persevering—even if it's slow going.

By 2021, at the age of 55, I achieved a good measure of overall health by learning to manage stress better, eat better, replace nutrients that were lacking, and utilize many other tools that I have included in this program. The results have been that I feel younger than I did in my 30s and 40s, I've lost weight, minimized my pain, continue to sleep well, and can run short distances with my little dog Mishka. Come along with me as I assist you on your wellness journey.
